As we've previously talked about the brand war between Pepsi & Coca-Cola, other brands like KFC, Victoria's Secret, Target and Pac Sun have displayed summer commercials for the consumer. These summer ad campaigns showcase the ability to go out and have fun with their selected brand, whether it's a bikini, beverage or clothing item. However, brands secretly want you to be inside, watching their commercials. Advertisers have to step up their game in the summertime to make their brands stand out and be memorable, just like Pepsi did using Coke's two iconic characters, the polar bear and Santa Claus. Although this is all in good fun, the music is a big factor in the success of every commercial. Take KFC and Pac Sun for example, both commercials not only use music to tell their story, but they immediately connect with the consumer emotionally. This is a great tool to reel in your consumer and ultimately buy the product. Just by watching the commercials, the majority of comments listed on YouTube want to know the song name, or watch the commercial repeatedly. I admit, I've watched the Pac Sun commercial over and over again because of Frank Sinatra's song, " Irresponsible". Pac Sun does a great job of merging two different generations into something magnificent. This is an opportunity for advertisers to connect with consumers in a different, creative way. Do you think music has a key role in a commercial? What summer commercial below will you watch on repeat?
