To tweet or not to tweet, that is the question. If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me about how I use Twitter, does our advertising agency use Twitter, why use Twitter, is there any value in Twitter, etc. etc. etc. I would be rich. Lo, I do not have a nickel for every time. My response remains the same to all questions Twitter. It is a great marketing strategy tool for the right people, right brand in the right environment. Today, Advertising Age posted the demographics of social media. For Twitter, less than 10% of the population uses this, far less than Facebook and LinkedIn. The key is to identify if YOUR customer is in that 10% and if so, this offers one more communication strategy to speak to them.
I recently heard Eric Weaver from Ant's Eye View speak about adding Twitter into your mix of communication tools. He shared that he identifies the best way to communicate with his 'target'. In some cases he sees that they are avid Twitter users. So that's where he finds them and how he communicates with them. Others prefer email. Some phone. The key is to find how to best communicate and then use that tool. Find them where they are. Talk to them there.
But seriously folks, anything that can only use 140 characters to send a message comes with some pretty serious limitations.
This video points out how it ain't brain surgery or saving any lives either. Tell us what you think, we'd love to hear.
