The Value of Zero? How About the Power of Teamwork?
Rick Stanton, Creative Director / Managing Partner, Stanton & Everybody Advertising + Design
I’m not going try and one up the review that accompanies the link and subsequent TV ad for Nissan. It’s an intelligent observation and spot on.
But I will add this to the review.
This is a perfect example of what happens when ad professionals unselfishly collaborate.
The incredible teamwork required between those responsible for the concept, the copy, the art direction and the producers involved in this undertaking is at the root of its success.
There obviously were no prima donnas involved in the making of this spot.
My observations on work done for big clients with big budgets has lead me to believe that in most cases the project gets hijacked by the art directors. It is TV after all, and art directors can be incredibly arrogant when it comes to “their baby”.
Especially the young ones more invested in building their books, then they are doing the right thing executing against a brand strategy.
And to be sure there was a ton of money behind this project, something most Seattle shops rarely if ever have in our collective toolboxes.
But regardless, this is simply a stunning piece of work and a great example of one great idea, shared by many. And an ode to what happens when responsible thinking occurs.
