Friday's Favorite Advertising Movie

By: Cynti Oshin, Director of Client Services & Business Development

In light of the fact that this season, $30,000,000+ has been spent on Seattle TV alone for politicals, I thought I’d highlight the 1994 film, Bob Roberts, a mockumentary about a rightwing folksinger whose “songs of protest target welfare chiselers, liberal whining and the like.” (-- from Marshall Fine's comments on Amazon.com) The push of his message into the arena, media manipulation and more, shows things haven’t changed much in the last 16 years. The film has an incredible A list cast including Tim Robbins (wrote and directed), Helen Hunt, John Cusack, Gore Vidal, Alan Rickman, James Spader and more. If you’re interested, you can find the film on Netflix or buy it on Amazon.

Personally, I want to throw my shoe at the TV every time a political ad comes on. You? Tell me what you think about this season’s political advertising. I’d like to hear.
