Modern Family Premiers Tonight

My favorite show is back tonight. I love my Mad Men. But I really, really love Emmy winning Modern Family. And my crazy, dysfunctional yet fabulous group is back tonight on ABC for it’s second season. If you’ve never seen it the premise is exactly that: a Modern Family. The patriarch Jay, who is remarried to a younger woman with a child, and has two grown children of his own, Claire and Mitchell, who are both raising their own families. Claire is married to a goof and they have 3 teenagers. And Mitchell is gay and raising his adopted daughter Lily with his partner Cam. The show is so well cast and hilarious in a “this could be real life” kinda way. My favorite parts are always the into the camera interviews where the actors play so well off of each other. Fantastic. A shout out also to the advertising creative and PR teams at ABC for their mocking banner campaign. They have each character in white mimicking your favorite prime time drama that might take itself a little too seriously. Just rolling the show’s hilarity right into the advertising. Brilliant.
