My friend, Mike McDevitt, told me I had to watch this video. Before I go on, you've got to watch it too.

So now you might ask, what does this video have to do with marketing, advertising, communications, strategic planning and brand strategy? A lot.
The opportunities for communication are exploding at warp speed. Facebook, Twitter, blogs, mobile, iPads and their cousins, QR codes, smart mobs and more. All have inherent value for the right product at the right time. And most cannot stand alone - but are exponentially more effective when combined with other tools even, gasp, traditional media. For instance, research shows that online advertising combined with radio has a multiplier effect when measuring response.
Sometimes, we can make things more complicated than they really need to be. And sometimes, we can miss out on opportunities because we shy away from that with which we are not yet familiar. As communication specialists, it is our job to know what's going on, how it works, how it will benefit our clients and help them meet their goal. And not to forget the basics. Like how to read a book. A real one.
