"Let's Make it Work"

By:
Lisa Dahlby
Account Supervisor

The Peoples Bank campaign for Home Loan Lending has hit the streets, literally!  Mary Grace Long beautifully photographed numerous Home Loan Specialists for this project and our Art Department built the transit artwork in coordination with the "Let's Make it Work" campaign.  Each Peoples Bank Home Loan Specialist who was photographed was a great sport and I appreciate everyone's positive attitude.

I especially love the humanity and authenticity that Mary Grace captures in her photos.  Such honest, beautiful work.  Thanks team.

The End to Pricey Super Bowl Ads?

By:
Rick Stanton
President/ Creative Director
Back in February, I blogged about the 2012 Super Bowl ads

Today, I read about this in the Wall Street Journal.

So GM is done with Super Bowl ads. It took a while and $82,000,000 over the last ten years to figure it out but better late than never.

It seems that with few exceptions, Super Bowl ads have become more sophomoric and less memorable with agencies struggling to come up with an actual idea that's an extension of a brand message. In my opinion they just aren't very good anymore.

And as a rule, neither are the games. Are we seeing the start of an end in the overwhelming marketing power of this event? What do you think?

2012 Summer Olympics Logo

By:
Rick Stanton
President/Creative Director

Someone has told me that they think some of my blogs are too negative.

So this blog is based on being positive.

I’m positive the logo for the London Summer Olympics is one of the most colossal train wrecks in the history of graphic design.

What were people thinking? That’s unfair; thought was not a part of this disaster.

And given what surely must be one of the largest committee-based decision making processes in the world, a number of influential folks looked at this and went, “Whoa, this is it.”

This once again proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that clients get the work they deserve.

Of that, I am also positive.

Tell us what you think.

By:
Molly Stephens

Advertising Assistant

The best part about working in the Advertising industry is working with great people on a daily basis.

This week I shadowed Rick at his production of Barrier Motors Radio spots at Bad Animals Recording Studio.

I am so thankful for everyone who took the time to answer my questions and even for giving me a tour of the studio.  Wow…there sure is a great mix of history there as well as big names that have recorded at Bad Animals!

Is the Lettuce Really Going to be Lonely?

By:
Molly Stephens
Advertising Assistant

It it just me, or is anyone else noticing the recent "dressing" trend? And no I am not talking about celebrity fashion.

Last month, I read an article in the Wall Street Journal about Heinz For Everything Ranch Dressing.  A new and improved thicker Ranch Dressing that is more efficient for America's dipping, smearing, dunking and consuming needs.  It claims to be the new 'Ketchup'.

Two days ago, I heard about the new Kraft "Anything" Lonely Lettuce campaign and how creative it was.  I wanted to learn more, here is what I found:

"Here's an interesting move. Kraft has taken a big step out of the salad ghetto with the re-branding of its dressing as not just for the leafy stuff.  In a new move steered by Being, the brand has removed the word "salad" from all its dressing bottles and replaced it with "anything,"  effectively turning its condiments into "anything dressing." The brand is taking a cue from consumers, who have long used its dressing for stuff that isn't necessarily so healthy (like wings, for example.) The campaign includes a spot created out of Laika starring a lonely head of lettuce, new packaging labels, print, in-store and digital."

From an advertising point of view, I think it is great that big brands can identify and focus on the needs their consumers.  What intrigues me most is how the campaign is simply swapping one word for another on their packaging, how simple and clever!

Do you think consumer shopping habits will increase or decrease because the new "Anything" product label?

Barrier Motors TV Campaign Launch

By:
Thad Tichenor, Senior Art Director
Lisa Dahlby, Account Supervisor

Stanton & Everybody is proud to announce the launch of the 2012 Barrier Motors TV campaign.  This campaign features spots for Barrier Volvo, Barrier Audi and Mercedes Benz of Bellevue.  Stanton & Everybody is proud to be the agency of record for Barrier Motors for over 21 years.

Many thanks to Harry Calbom and Justin Henning at The Academy, who filmed and directed the spots, and to the many others that were brought in to help scout, plan and organize the production. Their attention to detail and exceptional professionalism made the shoot fun for our team.  And stylistically, they gave us exactly what we asked for and more.

The three spots were shot solely on location in some of our favorite parts of Seattle and Bellevue.  From restaurants to lacrosse fields, we ended up shooting in twelve locations in three-days. Fortunately, the weather cooperated and each scene went off without a hitch.

We'll be posting one spot each day, May 7th-May 10th.  Follow our blog this week and play our game to see if you can spot the locations correctly . . .

Weeding.

Weeding.

If you’re a home owner and you have any interest in keeping your property in tip-top shape, or in my case you’re a clinically insane serious gardener, you understand the constant struggle that is weeding.

It’s been said, anything that you don’t want in your yard or garden is a weed. Philosophically I would agree. But from horsetails to shot weed to blackberry starts there are some true weeds that are like army ants: they just keep coming back for more.

Keeping it all at bay is not particularly fun either.

Until now.

Introducing the Bernzomatic, a guy’s tool designed to make weeding fun by burning stuff. The best $35 you’ll ever spend.

Most men like fire. And who didn’t burn ants with a magnifying glass when they were six, right?
Just screw on a bottle of propane, hit the ignition switch and you are armed and ready to take out anything and everything in your path.

It brings to mind the line from Apocalypse Now, “I just love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

One bit of advice is warranted however. Keep a garden hose within reach of the area you are power weeding. This process can get away from you sometimes and things get set on fire inadvertently.

Lastly, if someone from the county happens by and reminds you there is a burn ban, simply tell them you’re just weeding.

Click here to order today! (I had to work advertising into this some how.)
